When an applicant shows
interest in working with Security Professionals of Illinois (SPI) he/she is
given a basic application. Once the application is turned in it is reviewed
by the Director of Operations. Upon completion of reference and background
checks, only the most qualified applicants are then offered a position at
SPI. All new
officers with SPI must first be licensed by the State which includes a ten
year background check and reference checks. Each new officer is then placed
on a 180-day probationary period in which time SPI will evaluate the
employee's ability to meet standards of job performances, ability to handle
a variety of situations and general conduct. All new employees in there
first ninety days of employment are required to complete courses in: pepper
spray training, public relations skills, handcuffing techniques and SPI’s
Policy and Procedure manual. If warranted, the officer is given additional
training on-site in specific security. |

Wages
A majority of security
firms false advertise their starting wages. They promise high wages in their
help wanted ads and then offer low beginning wages to applicants once they
complete the interview process. At Security Professionals of Illinois we believe in being fair
and honest. Our officers pay is based on the percentage that our clients pay.
All security firms determine security guard wages this way. While some clients
pay high rates to obtain the best officers and reduce turnover, other clients
pay average billing rates. We start our officers at competitive rates and then
advance those that are exceptional and deliver higher wages with additional
responsibility.
Affirmative
Action
Security Professionals of
Illinois is a Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.
